How to Measure Yourself- Bra Edition

Bra Measurement Guide

Top Bust

The circumference around the fullest part of your breast, whilst wearing a supportive bra. (Don't wear a padded or minimizer style bra.) This measurement is not the same thing as your bra size!

Under Bust

The circumference right below your breasts i.e. underbust line. Your underbust measurement is taken below the breasts and around the rib cage, where the band of your bra would sit. It should be snug, but not so tight that you can't take a normal breath.

How to Measure Yourself- Knicker Edition

Bra Measurement Guide

Waist

Narrowest part around your waist, This is your natural waist measurement, generally the smallest part of your midsection. Usually 1-2" above the navel, so it may be higher than you think! This is not where your low-rise jeans would sit, but rather where your body creases when you bend side to side.

High Hip

Your high hip measure is taken around the upper part of your hip bones, or where a low-rise waistband would sit. This is about 4" below the natural waist. It's generally where you would "put your hands on your hips.

Lower Hip

Your lower hip measurement is taken around the widest part of your bottom. his is quite low down on the body, about 7-9" below the natural waist. On many bodies, you can spot the fullest part by turning sideways in the mirror and noting where your bum protrudes the most.

Still Unsure?
Here's Another Guide to Help You Out!

Bra Measurement Guide

First, bend your upper body to 90 degrees and wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust.

Next wrap the measuring tape around your ribcage directly under the swell of your breasts. The measuring tape should be taut but not pressing into the skin. Since bra band sizes are even numbers, round up to the nearest band size. Subtract this number from your top bust size and use the difference in inches to calculate your cup size.

Sister Size

Alternate sizes where the cup capacity stays the same, despite the letter of the
cup and band size being different.
